Rocky Marciano, born Rocco Francis Marchegiano on September 1, 1923, in Brockton, Massachusetts, was an American professional boxer who competed from 1947 to 1955. He is renowned for being the only heavyweight champion to retire undefeated, with a record of 49 wins, 0 losses, and 43 knockouts.

Early Life

Marciano was born to Italian immigrant parents. He grew up in a working-class family and showed an early interest in sports, particularly baseball and boxing. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he began boxing more seriously, Marciano pursued a professional boxing career.

Boxing Career

Marciano made his professional debut on March 17, 1947, with a knockout victory over Lee Epperson. His relentless fighting style, incredible stamina, and powerful punches quickly made him a formidable opponent. He won the heavyweight title on September 23, 1952, by defeating Jersey Joe Walcott in a 13-round bout.
