Ogun state Police Command has confirmed the shooting of four individuals and killing of a man and a woman after a gun attack that occured at the Government Reservation Area,GRA,Ibara in the earlier hours of today (Monday).
A statement from the State Command's spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola,stated thus "Two individuals have been confirmed dead, while two others are recovering at the Federal Medical Center in Idi Aba, Abeokuta, following a shooting that took place around 12:30 AM on November 11, 2024, in the parking lot of Diamond Dumplings, in GRA Abeokuta.
"Three armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA license plate, demanding the car keys.
"The assailants opened fire, hitting one Ola (surname unknown) and one Shobanke Oluwatimileyin.
"The divisional police officer from Ibara, responding to distress calls, arrived the scene and ensured the area was secure before transporting the victims to the hospital.
"Upon their arrival, the attending doctor confirmed two fatalities, while the other two individuals are receiving medical attention.
" A preliminary investigation has been initiated to examine the factors leading to the two deaths and to assess any potential links to cult activities.
"The public will be informed about the progress of the investigation in the coming days, as a follow up to arrest the fleeing suspects".
Meanwhile, Newslife stumbled on this, which further shed light on the story; naija Confra reports that a former number 1 of Eiye, Adewale Olanifemi, alias “Ola Poly,” was dropped by Buccaneers last night while returning from a club with his girlfriend at Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Ola Poly recently handed over leadership after graduating from DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic last year. Both he and his girlfriend were k!lled in the incident.
Buccaneers have stated that this attack was in retaliation for the de@th of Leke, the Buccaneers APC politician dropped by Eiye on October 12. Contrary to rumors that Ola was with his wife, our findings confirm he was with his girlfriend. Ola, who is married with two kids, went out with his girlfriend to a new club called Erik*** at Onikoko. He reportedly didn’t take his own car but used his friend’s Benz, as his friend had come to visit. After dropping his friend off at a hotel along Okemosan, Ola was attacked while heading back to the club.
Sources told Naija Confra that the girlfriend may have recognized one of the Buccaneers who attacked Ola and began screaming loudly, which led to her being shot. Other sources suggest Ola was shot inside the car, and stray bullets may have hit the girlfriend. Their bodies have been taken to the mortuary. Ola, being a Muslim, will be buried today.
