The Ogun State Police Command has received the National Centre for the Control of Small and Light Arms (NCCSLA), led by the South West Zonal Director, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha (Rtd).
The pivot of the visit to Ogun State Police Command was to introduce the functions and core duties of NCCSLA to all security agencies, of which the Nigeria Police Force is the lead security on internal security of the State.
The Ex-Police Boss, explaining the core mandate of the centre on Wednesday,stated that the mission of the center in the Southwest is to commence the mopping up of circulating weapons.
He disclosed the center's presence in six key locations across Nigeria: Maiduguri, Kaduna, Enugu, Calabar, Ogun, and Minna, covering all geopolitical zones.
The NCCSLA was established through an executive order by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to specifically eradicate the uncontrolled importation of small and light arms into Nigeria.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, who appreciated the NCCSLA's efforts, reaffirmed the Ogun State Police Command's commitment to collaborating with the centre to enhance internal security.
