About 532 days to the next elections that will usher in the next administration in Ogun State, high politicking has commenced in earnest. Signals and subtle moves have started appearing on the state's political horizon, indicating who might vie for the coveted seat of Governor of Ogun State in 2027.
A popular name on the lips of many citizens of Ogun State, especially from Ogun West, is that of the current Senator representing the senatorial district, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi. Although he hasn't informed anyone that he's going to vie for the Oke-Mosan seat currently occupied by Governor Dapo Abiodun, it's an open secret that Yayi is setting the stage for the race whenever the whistle blows.
Myriad political groups, associations, and movements are being formed, appealing to Yayi to contest for the governorship seat in 2027.
Also, an Itoko-born, Foremost AI expert,Technocrat and Social innovator,Biodun Collins Ogundipe, isn't taking the political matter lightly. Despite not being a household name in Ogun State politics, BCO has commenced groundwork programs on air and digitally to position himself for the Ogun State governorship seat in 2027. A visit to his page by Newslife's Political Reporter revealed subtle moves and pictorial signals indicating that BCO is putting all machinery in place to contest.
A review of his political antecedents revealed that he was a chieftain of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). During the 2019 elections, BCO played a prominent role.
Another politician with strong signals to jostle for the gubernatorial seat is former Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola. Like Yayi, Tunji Ishola hasn't publicly declared his intention to contest, but reports suggest that groups have been visiting him, appealing and prodding him to join the race.
Well-designed graphic works have been circulating on social media, depicting calls for Ambassador Tunji Ishola's candidacy.
