Ogun Set to Become Nigeria's Premier Transportation Hub, Says Abiodun

The Ogun State Government has announced a major push to establish the state as Nigeria's foremost regional transportation hub through strategic investments in critical infrastructure.

The announcement was made by Governor Dapo Abiodun during a Town Hall Meeting on the preparation of the 2026 Budget and Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for the Remo Division, held at the Akarigbo Palace in Sagamu.

Represented by the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, the Governor detailed his administration's "bold and strategic commitment" to infrastructural development.

A key part of this plan is the allocation of 130 hectares of land for a proposed Inland Dry Port. This facility is strategically designed to connect the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Lagos and the Kajola Dry Port, creating an integrated logistics corridor.

Governor Abiodun stated that this initiative dovetails with the recently launched Gateway International Airport, which has begun commercial operations. He described the airport as a "significant milestone" expected to accelerate economic growth, generate employment, and firmly position Ogun State as a central node for aviation and transport in the region.

“These projects will open new frontiers for seamless travel, enhance connectivity, and boost economic activities across the state and beyond,” the Governor said.

The Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, emphasized that the town hall meeting reinforced the government's belief that citizens are the bedrock of governance. He encouraged residents to actively contribute ideas to the budget process, assuring that their inputs would guide government decisions to ensure grassroots development.

In a strong endorsement, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo land, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, commended the state government for its numerous developmental strides.

“The people of Remo are particularly proud of the Governor’s remarkable achievements, especially the successful completion of the Gateway International Airport project that has positioned Ogun State as a hub for economic growth and investment opportunities,” Oba Ajayi stated.
