The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered three firearms, two suspected stolen vehicles and 25 Automated Teller Machine cards during various operations across the state between September 16 and 26, 2026.
The State Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, adding that the command also recovered several mobile phones and assorted electrical materials during the operations.
Babaseyi said the arrests and recoveries were recorded through targeted operations, intelligence gathering and proactive enforcement under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni.
He said detectives attached to the Owode Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17, following a complaint lodged the previous day.
According to him, two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were arrested in connection with the alleged theft, while an accomplice identified as Saheed remained at large.
The police spokesman also said operatives of the Olorunda Division arrested Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, after intercepting three persons conveying suspected stolen electrical materials on a motorcycle along Ayetoro Road.
He said the police recovered bundles of electrical wiring, a change-over electrical box and a circuit breaker box allegedly stolen from a residence, while another suspect, identified as Tosin, escaped.
Babasuyi further disclosed that SWAT operatives from Base 7, Abule-Iroko, arrested Olamide Ayandele, 30; Tope Samuel, 40; and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30, after intercepting an unregistered tricycle and a TVS motorcycle around Dalemo, Ota.
He said preliminary investigation linked the suspects to alleged vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other persons connected with the case.
The PPRO said the Igbesa Division also arrested Ameachine Anthony, 45, over an alleged N2.5 million fraud and recovered 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones from him.
He explained that preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect allegedly used utility bills and newly acquired SIM cards through associates to facilitate bank accounts, after which the ATM cards were allegedly collected for fraudulent transactions.
Babaseyi said the suspect and recovered exhibits had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
He added that SWAT operatives arrested Peter Olanrewaju, 34, over alleged cult-related activities and subsequently arrested Adebayo Sodiq, 36, recovering one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols.
The police spokesman further disclosed that detectives in Ijebu-Ode recovered a suspected stolen Safira vehicle and arrested Olatunji Olalekan following discreet investigation, intelligence gathering and tracking.
He said the Sagamu Area Command and adjoining divisions also impounded eight vehicles during a “No Parking” operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge on September 26.
According to him, the vehicles were impounded for obstructing the highway, while the owners would be processed for prosecution on September 28.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, as well as members of the public for their cooperation.
Babaseyi said the command remained committed to proactive policing and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police.
