The Commander, 181 Amphibious Battalion, Bomadi LGA, Delta State, Lt. Colonel A. H. Ali. two Majors, one Captain, and about 14 Soldiers have been killed by some armed men in Delta State while trying to settle a communal rift.
The soldiers were said to be on rescue mission in Okuama community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State when they were reportedly ambushed and taken unawares by armed men and mercenaries in the community.
The incident is also linked to the botched rescue attempt in Okuama community of one Mr Anthony Aboh, an indigene of neighbouring Okoloba community in Bomadi Local Government Area, who was abducted over the lingering land dispute between the two communities.
A source from the military confirmed that the military men were taken unawares while on their way back to the waterfront after a deadlocked discussion in the Okuama community hall over the kidnapped youth.
The lifeless body of Mr Anthony Aboh is said to have been recovered floating on River Forcados.
