Paris Olympics: Edem,Omotayo get through for Ping Pong

 



Nigeria table tennis  stars, Offiong Edem and Olajide Omotayo have joined Aruna Quadri to qualify for the ParisOlympics.


Nigerian table tennis players qualified for Olympic Games for fifth and second time.


Reigning African Games champion, Offiong Edem  secured the tickets for #Paris2024 after defeating Tunisia's Fadwa Garci 4-2 at the Olympic Qualifiers in Kigali.


She sets a record for reaching the Olympics five times (2004, 2012, 2016, 2020, 2024). Closely following table tennis legends Segun Toriola and Funke Oshonaike who have each made seven appearances.


On the other hand, Olajide Omotayo would  also be on the RoadToParis2024 come July as he edged Congo-Brazzaville's Saheed Idowu 4-0 to advance for his second consecutive Olympics appearance.



 



Edem is off to her 5th Olympic Games for Nigeria, while Omotayo has now qualified for his second consecutive Games.




Aruna Quadri competed for Nigeria at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2016 Summer Olympics, and 2020 Summer Olympics. The Africa no. 1 will be hoping to make history as the first African to win Gold in the men singles event.
