Ex- two time heavyweight Champion, George Foreman is dead

 




1968 Olympic gold medalist and two-time heavyweight world champion George Foreman has sadly passed away aged 76.


He is highly regarded as one of the best heavyweights of all time and to this day remains the oldest man to EVER win a heavyweight world title.

He was first defeated by Muhammed Ali in 1974.

George Edward Foreman was an American professional boxer, entrepreneur, minister, and author. In boxing, he competed between 1967 and 1997 and was nicknamed "Big George". He was a two-time world heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medalist. As an entrepreneur, he was known for the George Foreman Grill.

Former heavyweight champion George Edward Foreman, who lost to Muhammad Ali in iconic 1974 “Rumble in the Jungle” boxing matchup before reclaiming the title two decades later, died on Friday, 21st March, 2025 at age 76.


The family statement, posted on Foreman's Instagram account, read: 'Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announced the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman St. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones."


Big George fought 81 times as a professional, winning 76, 68 of those by knockout.
