 Team Ogun Claims First Medals at National Sports Festival; Hockey Teams Show Strong Performance  


19/05/2025 – Team Ogun has secured its first medals at the ongoing National Sports Festival, with Afeez Salawudeen winning a silver medal in the male Poomsae individual category of Taekwondo. The victory marks a triumphant start for the state in the prestigious competition.  


Hockey Teams Battle in Group Stage  

In the male hockey event, Team Ogun continued its impressive run with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Team Yobe. Meanwhile, Team Lagos and Team Rivers played to a tense 1-1 draw in another group-stage clash.  


Medal Tally Update (As of 21:46 PM, May 19, 2025)  

Team Ogun’s medal count has risen to two silver medals:  

- Taekwondo (Male Poomsae Individual) – Silver (Afeez Salawudeen)  

- Darts (501 Female Doubles) – Silver (Adeyemi Ololade & Odedola Toluwanimi)  


Darts Team Advances in 701 Male Doubles  

There’s more good news from the darts arena, as the pair of Williams Oluwaseyi and Kayode Lawal have progressed to the semi-finals in the 701 male doubles category, keeping Team Ogun’s medal hopes alive.  


With strong performances across multiple sports, Team Ogun is steadily climbing the medal standings. Fans and officials remain optimistic about more podium finishes in the coming days.
