A bomb blast has erupted in an Army Barracks in Ilese, near Ijebu-Ode.
The incident happened on Thursday at a mini store within the barracks. According to eyewitness accounts, the blast may have been caused by heat build up.
In a viral video sighted by Newslife at around 9:40 pm, billowing thick fumes were seen, while the man recording the scene from afar was heard saying, "Bomb blast ni Sapa Army Barracks in Ilese, Ijebu."
A public notice accompaning the video reads "We are pleased to confirm that the situation is now fully under control. Security personnel have secured the area, and there is no threat to lives or property outside the immediate scene of the incident.
"We assure residents that there is no cause for panic. Authorities are conducting a thorough assessment to prevent a recurrence, and normal activities in and around the barracks have resumed".
Newslife gathered that no casualty was recorded following the bomb blast.
