Southern Governors Pledge Unity, Security, and Development at Regional Meeting

 



... As Gov. Abiodun harps on Creation of State Police 

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has welcomed his counterparts from the South-East, South-South, and South-West to Ogun State for a regional meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation and addressing common challenges.

The meeting held at the State Governor residence in Iperu had in attendance 9 Governors of  Anambra ,Abia, Cross Rivers, Ebonyi,  Lagos, and  Deputy Governors of Osun and Oyo and Ondo


In his speech, Abiodun emphasized the need for a proactive and integrated security framework, citing recent mass abductions in schools and communities across the country. He advocated for the establishment of state police, intelligence-sharing, and community policing to enhance security in the region.


The Governors also discussed economic development, focusing on agriculture, infrastructure, and industrialization. Abiodun highlighted the region's rich natural resources, including oil, gas, and solid minerals, and emphasized the need for strategic partnerships to unlock these resources and drive growth.


The meeting concluded with a call for unity and cooperation among Southern states, with Abiodun urging stakeholders to study the Southern Nigeria Development Agenda and contribute to shaping a prosperous future for the region .
