 OGHA CONFIRMS GOVERNOR’S NOMINEE FOR AUDITOR-GENERAL FOR LG, PASSES BILL ON AGRICULTURAL LAND MANAGEMENT AGENCY 

Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed the nomination of Mr. Abdul-Nojeem Olayinka it earlier screened to be appointment as the new Auditor-General for Local Governments.

The confirmation of Olayinka's appointment followed the adoption of the report of the Committee of the whole House presented by the Deputy Speaker Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi, seconded by the Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye and supported by the whole House through a voice vote.

Hon. Ajayi moved later moved the motion for the confirmation of the appointment of the nominee, seconded by the Minority Leader and supported by the entire House via a unanimous voice vote.

Earlier while presenting the report, Hon. Ajayi stated that the Committee had thoroughly reviewed Mr. Olayinka’s curriculum vitae, credentials and responses during the screening process and found him suitable for the appointment, after which the Speaker directed that the House approval be conveyed to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the swearing-in of the nominee.

In a related development, the Assembly has also passed a bill to establish the Ogun State Agricultural Land Management Agency, titled: " H.B. No. 029/OG/2025 - Ogun State Agricultural Land Management Agency Bill, 2025", mandating the deployment of a Comprehensive Framework for Responsible and Inclusive Land-Intensive Agricultural Investment (FRILIA) to provide clear guidelines for land allocation and management in the State.

The passage of the bill followed the presentation of the report of the joint Committees on Agriculture, Lands and Housing by the Chairman, Hon. Waliu Owode, who later moved for its adoption, seconded by Hon. Olusegun Kaka Odunuga and supported by the entire House through a voice vote.

The bill was later read and adopted clause by clause before the Committee of the whole House, and subsequently, the Deputy Speaker moved the motion for the third reading of the bill, seconded by the Minority Leader, and supported by the entire House.

Thereafter, the Clerk/Head of the Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, took the third reading of the bill before the State lawmakers; while the Speaker directed that the clean copy of the bill be forwarded to the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his assent.
