PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, has dismissed claims that the party is dying, saying it's stronger than ever despite APC's "political machinations". Addressing party stakeholders in Abeokuta, Adebutu accused APC of multi-taxing Nigerians and warned them against undermining democracy in Ogun.

Hon.Adebutu stated this on Friday at the PDP South- West Zonal Meeting held at Ake Palace Ground, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections in Ogun state, Hon.  dismissed insinuation that the party is dead and on the verge of doldrum.

Adebutu maintained that, despite the political machination by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to demystify the growing popularity and acceptability of PDP in the country, the party has remained united and strong after the Supreme Court judgement declaring Dr. Kabiru Taminu Turaki, SAN has the National Chairman of the party.

Adebutu took a swipe at the APC administration for multi-taxing Nigerians, cautioning the party from undermining democracy in Ogun state, saying the electorates are tired of maladministration of the APC government in the state.

He called on party members to enroll for their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) as the tool to vote out the ruling party in 2027

Addressing party faithfuls, the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde applauded party members for their stewardship and courage for trouping out in large number to attend the meeting.

Makinde who was accompanied by the Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin charged party members in Ogun state to remain committed and hopeful of governance under PDP in 2027.

He posited that, the party suffered backlash and political weather storm during the reign of APC in Oyo State, assuring PDP members in Ogun state of New dawn.

“Oyo PDP was once in your position. But Ogun will triumph. I can give you the assurance that PDP is well and alive. Whoever thinks otherwise will be surprised beyond their imagination. My charge for you is to please hold your communities, hold your polling units and local government areas.”

 former Osun Gov Olagunsoye Oyinlola joined Adebutu, urging PDP members to stay committed and hopeful for 2027. Makinde assured Ogun PDP of a "new dawn", citing Oyo's experience under APC rule.

The meeting saw defections from APC and NNPP members, with Adebutu urging PDP members to get their PVCs ready to vote out APC in 2027.
