Bandits Who Abducted Edo Doctor , Killed His Brother Arrested When they Brought Their Daughter for Treatment in the Doctor's Hospital...
Dr. Ibrahim Babatunde Abu who works at the Auchi General Hospital in Edo State and his brother Dr Tahir Abu were kidnapped in Edo State on January 2, 2026. The bandits who carried out the heinous crime demanded a ransom of N100 Million.
Family members, professional colleagues and other well meaning Nigerians scurried out in different directions looking for the money then.
The bandits grew impatient and murdered the younger of the two abducted men in cold blood More panic. And eventually the family raised and passed N70 Million to the bandits for the release.
Dr Babatunde returned to his beat at the Auchi General Hospital. It was there on February 8,2026 that one of the bandits Idris Abubakar and Sani Abubakar his friend came to the hospital with his daughter who had an ailment. Dr Babatunde Abu recognized him immediately as one of the members of the gang responsible for his abduction and the killing of his younger brother during the incident.
He immediately alerted securiy agents who came to the premises of the hospital and arrested the duo without any incident.
The Police Version:
“On 08/02/2026 at about 0900hrs, the Divisional Police Officer following a lead on the same case mobilised operatives to the Specialist Hospital, Auchi, where two suspects identified as Idris Abubakar ‘M’ and Sani Abubakar ‘M’, were apprehended at the hospital premises. “Both suspects have also been identified as part of the gang that abducted Dr. Babatunde on 02/01/2026. “Idris Abubakar was identified as the particular person who received ransom money for the release of Dr. Abu,”
