Former Commissioner for Health and Senator representing Ogun Central,Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo , has outlined some of her priorities for Ogun State if she emerges as governor in the 2027 election.
Speaking on Saturday at a Media Parliament organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, Obasanjo listed industrialisation, relocation of factories to rural areas, opening of rural roads, massive establishment of solar farms, Education, Technology ,culture, and tourism expansion, Employment as her key focus areas.
Obasanjo emphasised that industrialisation would drive job creation and increase revenue for the state. She highlighted the need to relocate factories to rural areas to stimulate economic growth and reduce urban migration.
The Governorship aspirant promised to prioritise education, offering outstanding incentives to encourage teaching and improve educational outcomes. She also stressed the importance of culture and tourism, citing Ogun State's rich heritage and potential for growth.
On energy, Obasanjo pledged to establish massive solar farms to boost power supply and support industrial growth. She emphasised the need for sustainable energy solutions to drive economic development.
"Solar Power Manufacturing Plants will be established in Ogun, and we will discuss with the manufacturers so as to make it affordable to the people".
The former senator highlighted her experience as Commissioner for Health and Senator, citing her commitment to transparency and accountability. She promised to ensure tangible improvements on education standard in the State.
Obasanjo's governorship bid is seen as a significant development in Ogun State politics. She has been meeting with various stakeholders, including Tradition Rulers, Inter Party Advisory Council,IPAC,to garner support.
Earlier, NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Wale Olarewaju, assured that the union would provide equal media opportunities for all 2027 aspirants to showcase their plans for Ogun State.
