A political support group backing Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola's 2027 governorship bid in Ogun State, Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), has announced mobilization initiative ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State.
The group disclosed this at during a press conference held on Wednesday, at NUJ Secretariat,Oke ilewo, Abeokuta Ogun State Capital.
The State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, who addressed Journalists described the group as a major grassroots political structure established to consolidate support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates across Ogun State.
According to the him, the formal inauguration of the movement is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2026, and will serve as a strategic gathering of political stakeholders, youth groups, community mobilisers and APC loyalists from across the state.
Kaka stated that the YPM was not created as a ceremonial platform but as a disciplined political force designed to shape the future political direction of Ogun State through coordinated grassroots engagement and mobilisation.
“The YAYI PROGRESSIVES MOVEMENT is not a peripheral actor in the present political equation of Ogun State. It is a central, disciplined, and result-oriented force,” he said.
He explained that the movement, under the leadership of Convener Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde and other key political leaders, has been structured to ensure effective political coordination and voter mobilisation ahead of the next election cycle.
The movement reaffirmed its loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising his administration’s economic reforms and leadership direction at the national level.
According to Kaka, the group remains aligned with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the President and believes the reforms being implemented will strengthen long-term national growth and economic stability.
The movement also commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for what it described as sustained infrastructural development, industrial expansion and fiscal discipline under his administration.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration has provided a solid platform upon which greater progress can be built,” the statement added.
YPM equally acknowledged the contributions of elder statesmen and APC leaders in Ogun State, particularly former governor Chief Olusegun Osoba, for sustaining progressive politics in the state.
The group declared full support for the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the next governor of Ogun State, describing him as the most prepared and experienced candidate within the APC.
Kaka said Adeola’s legislative background, political experience and grassroots connection position him as the preferred choice for Ogun’s future development.
“Senator Adeola’s proven track record, legislative experience, and deep grassroots connection make him the clear and compelling choice for Ogun State,” he stated.
As part of activities lined up for the inauguration, the movement announced plans to commission campaign buses and deploy mobilisation structures across the state to strengthen grassroots engagement.
The group also disclosed that loyal members and supporters would be recognised and empowered during the inauguration ceremony, while patrons and matrons of the movement would be officially decorated.
According to the organisers, the initiative is aimed at rewarding loyalty, encouraging commitment and building a united political structure capable of sustaining electoral success beyond 2027.
