Peace Initiative Committee Clarifies Ogun YPM/ APC Rally Incident

 

The Peace Initiative Committee (PIC) Ogun Central, a body committed to promoting peace, unity, and stability across Ogun Central and beyond, has addressed the unfortunate incident that occurred at Ake Palace during the APC endorsement rally for the consensus candidate, Senator Yayi, on 3rd May 2026.

In a Press Statement signed by the Chairman of the body , Akeem Abiori, the statement clarified that  “Peace Initiative Committee Ogun Central was officially invited to the rally by the convener of the Yayi Progressive Movement, Mr. Armstrong Akintunde, and members of the committee were present at the venue in the interest of maintaining peace and observing proceedings.

While the program was ongoing peacefully, there was sudden panic as people began running in different directions following the sound of gunshots. Members of the committee immediately made inquiries and preliminary findings regarding the cause of the disturbance.

From the information gathered, the incident was a confrontation between King Ola, also known as Suko, and Eshe Musiliu, alongside their respective associates.

It was alleged that during the altercation, Suko and some of his associates opened fire on members of Eshe Musiliu’s group, resulting in injuries to some individuals.

Following the initial altercation and gunshots, some members of Eshe Musiliu’s group allegedly pursued Suko and his associates as they fled the scene. During the pursuit, two individuals identified as Stone and Bayo, said to be associates of Suko, were reportedly caught up in the attack.

From the information gathered by the committee, Stone unfortunately lost his life during the incident, while Bayo sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital in critical condition.

The Peace Initiative Committee Ogun Central wishes to clearly state that this incident should not be generally classified or presented as a cult clash or cult-related violence. From the findings available to us, the incident was a personal confrontation between two groups and should not be used to create unnecessary panic or tension within the public.

We therefore call on the relevant security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), to conduct a thorough, fair, and unbiased investigation into the matter. We also urge the authorities to invite all parties involved, including King Ola, also known as Suko, and Eshe Musiliu, in order for all sides of the story to be properly heard.

Furthermore, we wish to caution media platforms and blogs, particularly Naija Confra, against publishing unverified reports capable of escalating tension within the state. Accurate verification and responsible journalism are essential, especially on sensitive security matters such as this.

Finally, we appeal to members of the public who may have useful information regarding the incident to kindly report such information to the nearest security agency, the Nigerian Police Force, the DSS, or any recognized member of the Peace Initiative Committee Ogun Central.
