Women has been charged to break structural, cultural, and personal barriers in order to unlock future benefits that would enhance their growth and development.
The Group Chief, Branding and Communication Officer, Dangote lndustries Limited disclosed this in his Keynote address delivered by Mrs.Yetunde Ogunnowo at the Elevating Informative Women and Ambassadors ( ElWA )'s Maiden Conference themed , "Breaking Barriers: Equipping Women to Elevate and Thrive," held at June 12, Cultural Center, Kuto, Abeokuta.
Ogunnowo said empowering women requires deliberate efforts to close gender gaps aim at eliminate workplace bias, and promote policies that support women's advancement, adding that the female gender should unapologetically, overcome self-doubt, invest in continuous learning, and build strong professional networks.
"To truly equip Nigerian women to thrive, we must collectively Break Structural Barriers; Close gender gaps in access to capital; Eliminate workplace bias and Promote policies that support women’s advancement. We need to deliberately Challenge limiting stereotypes, Redefine leadership norms and Celebrate female success". she said.
She encouraged participants to see challenges not as obstacles but as stepping stones toward greater accomplishments, saying that woman should therefore commit not just in words, but in action to build an ecosystem where every woman has the opportunity not just to survive but to thrive.
Speaking earlier in her welcome address, the Convener and President of EIWA, Mrs. Folake Ade-Adeniji (JP), expressed profound appreciation to members and supporters whose dedication and cooperation made the event a reality.
She said Elevating Informative Women and Ambassadors (EIWA) is a Non-governmental organisation that is dedicated to fostering unity among women across Nigeria and beyond. Pointing out that the organisation is equally committed to empowering men and women, educating the younger generation, promoting skill acquisition for social and economic development, strengthening women's confidence, and helping them thrive in their chosen professions.
Applauding the consistency, resilience demonstrated by members since inception, Adeniji noted that their collective commitment would continue to drive the group's vision forward.
*"Women must stand together, encourage one another, and create opportunities that will inspire future generations. There should be no room for limitations or setbacks in our quest for greatness,"* she said.
Ade-Adeniji however, charged participants to remain focused, pursue excellence, and develop the courage to overcome every obstacle that may hinder their aspirations.
The chairman of the occasion, Special Adviser to the Governor of Ogun State, Honourable Kayode Akinmade, who was represented by the Director of Production Services, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mrs. Kemi Ewedairo Yusuf described the event as a monumental achievement and a significant milestone in advancing women empowerment initiatives in the State.
She commended the Convener for her visionary leadership and immense contributions towards improving the lives of women.
Mrs. Ewedairo stressed that sustainable development could only be achieved when women collaborate, mentor one another, and actively participate in governance and community development.
She noted that empowering women ultimately translates into stronger families, healthier communities, and a more prosperous nation.
Representatives from several organisations included Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Traffic Enforcement Agency ( TRACE ), Trace Officers Wives ( TROWA ) among others.
Highlights of the event was presentation of Award to Mr. Francis Awowole-Brown and Mr.Oluwole Shokunbi in appreciation of their invaluable contributions towards the successful hosting of the maiden summit and their unwavering support for women empowerment initiatives and official swearing-in of state executives.
