The lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Constituency I in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukmon Atobatele, has pledged to sustain the delivery of impactful, people-centred projects across his constituency as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atobatele made the pledge during the inauguration of 2,768 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Door-to-Door Campaign team, a grassroots mobilisation initiative aimed at securing 26,806 votes for APC candidates in Abeokuta South.
The beneficiaries of the mobilisation effort include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogun West Senatorial candidate Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi), Ogun Central Senatorial candidate Senator Salisu Shuaib, House of Representatives candidate Hon. Afolabi Afuape, Hon. Lukmon Atobatele and other APC candidates.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the inauguration, Atobatele described the large turnout of canvassers as a demonstration of the people's confidence in the APC, stressing that his administration would continue to prioritise projects that directly improve the lives of residents.
"This mobilisation is beyond politics; it is about consolidating on the progress we have made and ensuring that our people continue to enjoy quality representation. We remain committed to delivering more developmental projects that will positively impact every ward in Abeokuta South Constituency I," he said.
Highlighting his stewardship, the lawmaker disclosed that over 131 surgeries, including 10 cataract operations, had been sponsored under his free healthcare programme, while more than 10,000 residents benefited from free medical treatment.
He added that over 5,000 eyeglasses and wheelchairs had also been distributed to vulnerable residents, alongside the enrolment of 238 Egba Warriors and Baales into a one-year health insurance scheme.
According to him, the education sector has also received significant attention through the payment of school fees for indigent students, construction of classroom blocks, and improvements in learning infrastructure across the constituency.
Atobatele further listed the installation of 100 solar-powered street lights, construction of the Ibarapa Market in Ake, drilling of eight boreholes, construction of classroom blocks and a concrete road at Oke Abetu, as well as agricultural interventions through the distribution of fertilisers to farmers.
He noted that over 500 youths had also been trained at the Soilless Farm Lab, Awowo, as part of efforts to promote entrepreneurship and food security, while community development initiatives included the renovation of the CDC office at Oke-Aregba and a N1 million contribution towards transformer repairs at Idi-Oya, Kemta Idi-Aba.
The lawmaker also reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the "Ounje Atoba Egba" food discount programme and expanding access to potable water across the constituency.
Commending the newly inaugurated canvassers, Atobatele urged them to remain committed to issue-based engagement with residents.
"I appreciate every one of our canvassers for accepting this responsibility. I encourage you to go from house to house with facts, engage the people respectfully and let them know what this administration has achieved. Together, we will secure greater support for our party through truth, performance and service," he said.
He assured constituents that his representation would continue to focus on delivering projects that address the needs of the people while strengthening grassroots development across Abeokuta South Constituency I.
