Olori Titilayo Olufunmilayo Tejuoso, one of the wives of the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, has urged women, particularly younger ones, to cultivate patience, trust in God and avoid making hasty decisions in life.
Olori Tejuoso gave the advice on Thursday at a thanksgiving service held to mark her 70th birthday at the African Church, Cathedral of St. James, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Reflecting on her 70 years of life, the celebrant said reaching the milestone was made possible by the grace of God, stressing that faith in Christ remained essential to overcoming life’s challenges.
She said, “Seventy years of living is not that easy and not that rough, but if you have Christ, you will scale through. It is not easy, but with the help of God, I thank God for the 70 years.
“My advice to upcoming women is to have patience. When they have patience, things will be well with them, and they should believe in God. They should take their cases to God whenever anything happens to them.
“They should not do things in a hurry because if they do things in a hurry, they may take irrational decisions, and it may not end well.”
Olori Tejuoso described her 70th birthday celebration as an occasion that surpassed her expectations and imagination, expressing appreciation to her husband, the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba Oladapo Tejuoso, for accepting her for who she is.
She also appreciated the other queens in the royal household, Olori Omolara and Olori Bisi, for their acceptance and the peaceful relationship they shared.
The celebrant, who pledged to continue serving God for the rest of her life, said, “I will serve God without compromise till the end of my life.”
Earlier, the preacher at the service, The Most Rev. David Oyekunle Akinremi, in his sermon titled “I’ve Found a Friend in Jesus,” urged the celebrant to remain grateful to God for His faithfulness throughout her life.
According to him, Olori Tejuoso should continue to appreciate God for the opportunities and blessings she had received from childhood to the age of 70.
He said God had favoured the celebrant beyond her expectations, urging her to become even more patient and dedicate the rest of her life to God.
“I will like to urge you to be more patient than before you clocked 70 years and make sure you give your life to God, Jesus Christ. Use your good health to serve God, not otherwise,” he said.
The cleric also congratulated the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba Oladapo Tejuoso, for his contributions to his immediate family and the wider Oke-Ona Egba community.
He commended the three queens for maintaining peace and harmony within the royal household.
Speaking about the celebrant, her elder sister, Yetunde Sogbesan, described her as a woman of substance, elegance and deep-rooted royalty, being a daughter of the late Odemo of Isara.
She said royalty ran in the family, noting that their lineage was surrounded by royal heritage on both sides. Sogbesan also described Olori Tejuoso as a well-dressed woman and a gifted dancer, although she joked that her new status as an Olori had left little room for her to indulge in dancing as she used to.
She added that their mother was still alive and expressed gratitude to God for preserving the family and blessing them with a woman of Olori Tejuoso’s stature.
Describing the celebrant as a true child of God and a woman of substance, she prayed for her continued good health, grace and fulfilment in the years ahead.
Also Speaking at the event, Oba Tejuoso expressed gratitude to God for the successful celebration and thanked traditional rulers, politicians, associates, members of the royal family, his wives, children and grandchildren, well-wishers and religious leaders for joining the family to celebrate the milestone.
The monarch described the occasion as a great day, saying he was particularly happy to celebrate his wife.
Oba Tejuoso also urged those present to surrender their lives and everything they had to God, stressing the importance of allowing God to take control of their affairs.
Also speaking, former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, described Olori Tejuoso as a wonderful, kind-hearted and generous woman who had contributed positively to her family and society.
Amosun said he had known the celebrant for about three decades, describing her as a good wife to her husband, a good mother to her children and a woman who had demonstrated humility in her dealings with people.
He prayed for the celebrant to enjoy many more years in good health, expressing hope that her future would be better and more prosperous than her past.
The thanksgiving service was attended by members of the royal family, traditional rulers, religious leaders, politicians, family members, friends and well-wishers.
The guests later moved to the OOPL Hall for the reception, where they celebrated the milestone with the celebrant.
Also present were the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi; former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Amb. Sharafa Tunji-Ishola, who chaired the occasion; former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba; former Ogun Central Senator, Sen. Lanre Tejuoso; and the 2027 Ogun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, among others.
The celebration featured cultural and musical performances, including ewi renditions by Portable Alaga, performance by Remi Janta, and music by the legendary Commander Ebenezer Obey.
