Sarafa-Yusuf resigns from APC, says ‘I’m not quitting public service’


Former Ogun Governorship aspirant,Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, has resigned her membership of the All Progressives Congress.
Sarafa-Yusuf disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, August 27, 2026, saying she had formally informed the leadership of the APC in Ogun State and submitted her resignation letter.
She said her decision followed an extended period of travelling, spending time with his family, and engaging in deep personal reflection on his political journey and future.
She said her time in the APC had been an important part of her political career, expressing appreciation to those she met, the relationships she  built and the experiences that shaped her understanding of public service and leadership.
Sarafa-Yusuf, however, said there comes a time when an individual must have the courage to reassess his or her path, adding that she had reached a point where she  needed to carefully consider how best to continue contributing to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria.
 she said, “After an extended period of travelling and spending time with family and following much thought and quiet reflection, I have decided to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress.
“Today, I informed the leadership of the party in Ogun State and sent in my resignation letter.”
The former aspirant stressed that her resignation from the APC should not be interpreted as hier withdrawal from public service.
According to her, her commitment to public service remains undiminished, noting that she would continue to be guided by the values of service, integrity, inclusion, competence and a genuine desire to make a difference.
She stated, “It is, therefore, important to reiterate that I am not stepping away from public service. I am taking the next step in the journey.”
Sarafa-Yusuf explained that his decision was also informed by the need to give himself sufficient time to reflect and determine the direction of his next political engagement.
He added that he would return to his professional and business commitments after his holiday while considering the form his next phase of political involvement would take.
she said, “Sometimes, moving forward requires giving oneself the space to reflect, to listen, and to decide with clarity where one truly wants to go.”
Sarsfa- Yusuf, who vied for the number one seat in 2019 gubernatorial Primary of the APC, did not disclose the political platform he may join next, wished the APC and its members well.
She said her immediate priority was to focus on his professional and business commitments while taking time to determine his next political move.
Sarafa-Yusuf’s resignation comes as political activities and realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly in Ogun State.
