The Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), has expressed its readiness to accommodate more students as the institution continues to expand its academic and infrastructural capacity.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Fatiu Abiola Arogundade, MBBS, FNAMed, made this known while receiving members of Elevating Informative Women and Ambassadors (EIWA), led by its Founder and President, Mrs Folake Ade-Adeniji (JP), during a courtesy visit to the university.
Professor Arogundade welcomed the EIWA delegation and highlighted the University's preparedness to provide quality medical education and training to an increasing number of students.
He emphasized the importance of creating an environment where young people can access quality education, develop professional competence and contribute meaningfully to the society.
The Vice Chancellor noted that Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, FUMMSA was positioned to play a significant role in advancing medical education and human capital development in Ogun State and Nigeria, stressing that the institution remained open to constructive collaborations that would support its mandate.
Speaking during the visit, the Founder and President of EIWA, Mrs Folake Ade-Adeniji (JP), said the organisation was committed to championing child inclusion, ensuring that children and young people are not left behind in efforts aimed at improving access to education, skills development and opportunities.
She explained that EIWA's engagement with FUMMSA was driven by the organisation's broader vision of empowering the next generation through education, mentorship, advocacy and strategic partnerships.
“When we talk about empowering women and building a better society, we must also pay attention to the children. They are the future, and their inclusion in educational and developmental programmes must be deliberate.”
Mrs Ade-Adeniji further stressed the need for individuals, government institutions, educational organisations and civil society groups to work together to create opportunities that would enable children to discover their potential and prepare for the future.
The engagement also underscored the shared commitment of both organisations to investing in human capacity and creating pathways for young people to thrive.
EIWA, founded to promote women's empowerment, education, social development and inclusive opportunities, has continued to engage institutions and stakeholders in pursuit of its vision of building a more informed, empowered and inclusive society.
