Ogun commissioner pledges road rehabilitation in Abeokuta
There are indications that motorists, commuters and residents of the road linking Cooperative Junction, Ijeja, to Afro Bridge in Oke-Sokori, Abeokuta, may soon heave a sigh of relief, as the Ogun State Commissioner for Forestry, Hon. Oludotun Taiwo, has pledged to intervene in the rehabilitation of the road.
The road, which has several damaged sections, is reportedly riddled with potholes and deep gullies, some of which have extended into the main carriageway, making movement difficult for motorists and other road users.
Taiwo, popularly known as Twinny, made the pledge on Saturday during a visit to one of the Community Development Committees in Ijeja, Abeokuta.
The visit was part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for the 2027 governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress contesting elective positions.
Taiwo said the intervention was aimed at addressing the plight of residents and other road users who had been affected by the deplorable condition of the road.
He said, “Those who are vying for the positions are personalities that I know very well. I can approach them and ensure that the dividends of democracy get to this community and bring about development.
“Someone that I know, if he or she emerges victorious in the coming poll, I can approach such a person and make our demands known. I am therefore calling on you to support our party, the APC, at all levels, so as to ensure victory for the party.”
