The Ogun State Government has expressed sadness over the death of the Chairman of the Ogun State Park Management Services, Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin, popularly known as Iyeru.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, who disclosed this in a condolence statement on behalf of the government, described Bodunrin’s death as a painful loss to the government, transport sector and people of the state.
Dairo said the late OGSPAM chairman was a prominent stakeholder whose contributions to the development, regulation and peaceful administration of the state’s transport sector would remain significant.
He said, “His death is a painful loss to the Government, the transport sector, the organised transport unions and, indeed, the entire people of Ogun State.”
The commissioner noted that as chairman of OGSPAM, Bodunrin demonstrated commitment to maintaining order, discipline and coordination within motor parks and garages across the state.
According to him, the late transport leader played a central role in efforts to promote harmonious relationships among transport operators, government agencies and other stakeholders in the sector.
Dairo further described Bodunrin as a man who commanded considerable influence and respect among transport operators and members of his community.
He said his death had created a significant vacuum that would be deeply felt by his family, associates, colleagues and the wider transport community.
The commissioner extended the condolences of the Ogun State Government and people to the deceased’s immediate family, the leadership and members of OGSPAM, transport unions and associations, as well as others mourning the loss.
Dairo prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Bodunrin’s shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus and give his family, friends, colleagues and associates the strength to bear the loss.
“May Almighty Allah grant the soul of Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin eternal rest,” the commissioner added.
