IBAFO, — Detectives from the Ibafo Division of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled a three-member child-trafficking syndicate, arresting three women and rescuing three children in a targeted operation, officials announced Friday.
The suspects were identified as Kikelomo Jimoh, 36; Kayode Elizabeth; and Blessing Anochike, 60.
According to Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the operation followed an intelligence-led investigation into a reported child theft. Officers initially arrested Jimoh, who confessed to the crime and led detectives to Anochike's residence, where the three children were being held.
Police identified the rescued children as 14-year-old Christiana Olowokere, 16-year-old Olamilekan Abdurusheed, and 12-year-old Adeniji Rebecca.
According to the statement, preliminary findings reveal that Olowokere was allegedly sold for ₦500,000. Detectives established that Abdurusheed was abducted after running away from home, while investigators are actively examining the circumstances surrounding the movement and custody of Rebecca.
All three children are currently safe, and the suspects remain in custody.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for comprehensive investigation to determine individual roles and identify potential accomplices.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the Ibafo detectives for their prompt action and urged residents to report suspicious activities, unusual child custody arrangements, or unexplained disappearances to law enforcement immediately.
