Osigwe beats Moroccan rival in PFL Africa rematch
Nigeria’s Jane Osigwe defeated Moroccan sambo fighter Sanaa Mandar by unanimous decision in their highly anticipated rematch at the PFL Africa event in Casablanca, Morocco, on Saturday.
Osigwe secured the victory at the Mohammed V Sports Complex, reaffirming her superiority over Mandar in the return bout.
The 21-year-old Nigerian phenom controlled the physical catchweight bout from start to finish, with judges scoring it 29-28, 29-27, and 29-28 in her favour.
The matchup was billed as "unfinished business" after the two fighters' first encounter at AKO 10 in Abuja ended in controversy. Osigwe was originally awarded a razor-thin unanimous decision to capture the Women's Bantamweight Interim Championship, but the result was overturned to a No Contest following an official review by the Unified World MMA (UWMMA) due to scoring controversies.
That ruling left the rivalry unresolved and set the stage for Saturday's decisive rematch. This time, Osigwe left no doubt, delivering a dominant performance that showcased her striking accuracy and composure under pressure.
The victory cements Osigwe's status as one of Africa's brightest young MMA prospects and brings closure to a rivalry that has captivated fans across the continent.
