Iya Londo goes home in blaze of glory as Amosun, Sarafa,Otegbeye, others pay last respect to late grassroot Mobliser

 





Former  Governor of Ogun, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and his wife, Olufunso Amosun, Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Amb. Sarafa Isola, and other prominent personalities, on Friday, joined the Durojaiye family of Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, to bid farewell to Chief Mrs Taiwo Kosenatu Durojaiye popularly known as “Iya Londo” who died at the age of 97 years.



At a funeral service held at the Emmanuel Anglican Church, Keesi, Itoko Abeokuta, the Vicar, Venerable Oluyinka Oke encouraged the congregation to live a life worthy of emulation in order to enjoy eternal salvation, saying death is a price that must be paid by all and sundry.


The clergyman while eulogizing the good legacy of late Taiwo Kosenatu Durojaiye said she lived a life of service to God and humanity, adding that death is a transition to either eternal glory or eternal suffering depending on how one spent his or her life.

He charged the family and everyone present to take cognizance of the kind of legacies they intend to leave behind







While addressing the congregation, Senator Amosun said ‘Iya Londo’ played a pivotal role in the many successes of his political journey as a lawmaker in the National Assembly, and a two term governor of Ogun State.

He described the deceased as a woman of integrity and a thorough bred grassroot politician who strive to better the lot of people around her while alive, adding that she placed premium on social and women development above ‘transactional’ politics.

“Iya Londo was like a mother to all of us, political mother, because when we joined politics she was one of the trusted leaders that I met in 2001.

“One good thing about her is that she is not a transactional politician. She has stayed in the course with us since 2001 till date, that is why, we are here to celebrate her, we have lost rare gem,” Senator Amosun said.

The presence of dignitaries and well wishers at the Abeokuta sports club events Centre, venue of the reception organized in her honour was also a testament to the kind of quality life the deceased lived.



Other  personalities in attendance at the reception include the gubernatorial candidate of ADC in the last governship election in Ogun State, Barrister Biyi Otegbeye; former Minister of State for Transport, Ademola Adegoroye, and a host of others.

Late Chief Mrs. Taiwo Kosenatu Durojaiye was born in year 1926 and bade the world farewell on 14th of October, 2023 at the age of 97 years.
