We are looking at the possibility of organizing seminars to further entrench ethics of Obaship - Olowu of Owu kingdom

 




The Olowu of Owu, Oba (Prof) Saka Adelola Matemilola has mooted the need to organize a seminar to further strengthen the institution of Obaship.

Oba Matemilola said organizing such seminar would serve as platform to remind occupiers of  revered stools on the ethics of kingship.

The Monarch described the compromising process of some traditional ruler selection as the causes of having indisciplined, uncultured, unruly and questionable individuals on the throne of traditional rulers in this part of the world. 

Oba Matemilola   stated this during the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun state Council monthly guest forum on Thursday in Abeokuta ,the state capital.

 The traditional ruler, while responding to several damages some questionable individuals have done to the traditional stool, in the name of being an Oba, said the traditional ruler should be an example of high traditional and institutional values because the people look up to them for direction and help.


While emphasizing the role of education, social and economic independent towards the development of the society, Oba Matemilola highlighted several contributions he had made to the development of his people and domain.T

The Olowu Scholars Foundation, which pays for WAEC and JAMB of several students since 2022, establishment of Owu Community Library, Kabiesi Olowu Tertiary Institution Collaboration, Industrial Excursions, Skill Acquisition Training and Seminars, among others.


The NUJ chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju  expressed gratitude to the royal father for the honor to be the guest at the forum, first in year 2025.



Comrade Olanrewaju, with other executives of the council took the royal father round the council secretariat before the media chat, commended Olowu of Owu for accepting to provide solar light and other pressing needs of the council.
