The Nigeria U-18 men's handball team has qualified for the final of the 2025 IHF Trophy's Intercontinental Phase after a commanding 43-29 victory over Uzbekistan on Saturday in Pristina, Kosovo.
Nigeria will face Kosovo in the final at the Palace of Youth and Sports in pristina on Sunday (today).
Nigeria won their first match at the competition against New Caledonia, 37-29.
Despite an earlier setback in the second match against Kosovo (27-30) in the group stage, Coach Emeka Nnamani’s side responded with a dominant semi-final performance, boasting a 90% efficiency rate in the first half, which ended 24-13.
Uzbekistan attempted a comeback in the second half, but Nigeria capitalized on fast breaks and wing play to extend their lead, sealing a 43-29 win.
This marks Nigeria’s second final appearance in the tournament since 2019, when they finished as runners-up to Chinese Taipei. It also guarantees their third consecutive podium finish in the competition.
The winner of the competition qualify for the 2025 IHF Men’s Youth World Championship.
