....sets agenda to actualize mandate for women, children, families and vulnerable groups
Ahead of its zonal council meeting comprising zones in the south West, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social development in conjunction with its Ogun State counterpart,on Thursday commenced a two -day Pre- Council zonal workshop in order for zones to annex positions and fashion more better ways of improving issues and challenges facing women,girl child and the vulnerables in the society .
At the Workshop held at the Rotaract House, Abiola way , Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, Participants drawn from the six south West states ministries of Women Affairs participated in the Workshop.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Dr. Mariam Keshinro said the meeting was part of the preparatory efforts for the 25th National Council meeting on Women Affairs schedule to hold in Benin, Edo State.
Dr.Keshinro expressing gratitude to the host state, and all the participants representing their various States’ Ministries of Women Affairs, noted that focus would be on the Presidential Priority Areas of the Renewed Hope Agenda, the Ministerial Deliverables and the Key Performance indicators to actualize the mandate for women,children, families and the vulnerable groups.
She added that concentration would also be on Council Memoranda for effective policy alignment for delivery.
"We are all here due to our onerous passion for achieving the mandate of the Ministry of Women affairs. Your passion and dedication shall help us all to unite and the energy we create will always allow us to achieve our collective goals. We need you as much as you need us at the Federal level, which is why I am grateful to have you join the Federal team here today in the State"
Also speaking, Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social development, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye stated that the workshop was more than a routine meeting.
She described it as a convergence of urpose, a call to action, and an opportunity to reflect, reimagine, and realign collective strategies for empowering women, protecting the vulnerable, and strengthening families and communities.
"In a time when gender disparities still challenge our collective advancement, this forum provides fertile ground for robust dialogue, policy brainstorming, an experience-sharing that will help shape outcomes at the forthcoming National Council of Women Affairs. Here in Ogun State, we take pride in our commitment to inclusive governance. "Our Ministry has continued to implement impactful initiatives focused on gender equity, economic empowerment, protection of children, and support for the elderly and persons with disabilities. But we know that no State can walk this journey alone. Collaboration, as we are witnessing here today, is the soul of progress" She urged the participants to engage deeply, speak boldly, and listen intently.
"Let our conversations be guided by facts, driven by compassion, and rooted in the vision of a Nigeria where women are not just seen—but are heard, respected, and empowered. Let us challenge ourselves to leave here not just with reports and recommendations, but with renewed resolve and acctionable plans that will transform lives in every corner of our region"she stated
