The Mastermind behind the spectacular and trending fashion extraordinary, "EGBALIGANZA" ,and IT expert,High Chief Lai Labode jnr, has called on journalists to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance their work.
Speaking on Saturday at a Press conference held at the Union's Secretariat Iwe- Irohin, Oke -ilewo, to herald the 2025 Press Week of the Ogun state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Labode emphasized that AI is designed to augment human effort, not replace it.
Labode stressed that AI's effectiveness relies heavily on human input, and those who understand AI will have a competitive edge in the journalism profession. "A person who understands AI will take up the jobs of journalists who don't," he warned, urging journalists to fully embrace AI.
The Egbaliganza founder also encouraged journalists to think creatively, citing BBC Yoruba and Hausa as examples of innovative storytelling. He emphasized the importance of innovation in journalism, highlighting his foundation's commitment to preserving history, heritage, and innovation.
Also harping on the leading African Fashion Renaissance,Labode expressed his vision for Egbaland, Ogun State, and Nigeria to lead an African fashion renaissance. "We're not just doing things that look nice; we're connecting with the local economy," he said, adding that Egbaliganza showcases Africa's best while driving economic growth.
The 2025 Press Week, sponsored in part by the Lai Labode Heritage Foundation, features various activities, including outreach, press walks, journaling, and more.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ogun NUJ, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, highlighted his efforts to transform the union and announced plans to immortalize former chairman High Chief Layi Labode, Balogun Lai Labode's biological father.
