ABEOKUTA, Ogun State — Former Ogun Central Sen. Iyabo Obasanjo on Monday assured voters the period of vote theft targeting the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state is over.
Obasanjo gave the assurance at the unveiling of the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, at the PDP secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital.
“You will recall that Adebutu was the party’s gubernatorial candidate in 2019 and 2023 governorship elections in the state,” she said, referring to Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.
Obasanjo, a former state commissioner for health and daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, urged voters to protect their votes.
“They should stand with their votes and not allow what she described as ‘vote stealing’ in 2019 and 2023 to repeat itself,” she said.
