Ogun State police on Wednesday, said that they have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of former Ogtv staff, Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, 38, with the principal suspect confessing the killing was to “teach her a lesson.”
Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni told reporters during a Press Conference held at the command headquarters in Eleweran that the crime was committed June 20, 2026, at Oyesiku’s residence. Police received a report June 21 of a damaged front door and a locked security house.
Detectives found Adetayo’s body inside the security house and Oyesiku’s body in a pool of blood in the living room. A Lexus RX 330 belonging to the deceased was missing.
Ojajuni said technical tracking led officers to recover the vehicle June 22 in the Onikolobo Abeokuta South Local Government area. The registration plates had been removed, but detectives found them hidden under a seat, which helped confirm ownership.
A handwritten note recovered at the scene was subjected to forensic analysis and provided leads that aided the investigation, he said.
Police arrested the principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he worked as a laborer. Follow-up operations led to the arrest of Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.
During interrogation, Philip admitted recruiting Ayoola and Obafunsho and participating in the murders, police said. He told investigators he had worked as a security guard for Oyesiku and planned the attack after a grievance with her.
According to the confession, the suspects overpowered Adetayo to gain entry, then attacked and killed Oyesiku before killing the guard. They fled with the Lexus, which was later recovered.
Police said they recovered a broken hammer, cutlass, plank, black pen and other exhibits during searches linked to the suspects.
Ojajuni said the command is continuing investigation to consolidate evidence for prosecution. He said all suspects remain entitled to due process.
“While the suspects have made useful statements and substantial evidence has been recovered, investigation is ongoing to ensure diligent prosecution of all suspects connected with the crime,” he said.
