...Mayflower classmates reunite with celebrant Primate Odufuwa: 75 years testimony of God’s faithfulness

Olori Omolara Adesola Tejuoso’s 75th birthday celebration in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday turned into a gathering of old friends, classmates, family members and dignitaries, with former Governor Ibikunle Amosun and the Agoro of Egbaland, High Chief Doja Adewolu, leading tributes to the celebrant’s humility, generosity and love for people.
The celebration began with a Christian thanksgiving service, where the Primate of African Church, Nigeria and Worldwide,Most Rev. Augustine Afolabi Odufuwa, described the celebrant’s attainment of 75 as a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
Preaching from Psalm 90:10, Most Rev. Odufuwa said the preservation of Olori Tejuoso and her family over the years was by divine grace.
“To reach 75 is a testimony. For Daddy and Mummy to be preserved today is not by their doing. It is the Lord’s doing that they are not consumed,” he said.
The cleric urged Olori Tejuoso to see the milestone as a new phase of purpose rather than the end of her journey, stressing that age could not terminate destiny.
“Your age does not matter; God is promising that he will surely carry you. The celebration of today is not the end of the road; there is still purpose. Age does not end destiny,” Odufuwa said.
He also cited Psalm 91:16, assuring the celebrant of God’s promise of long life and praying for continued strength, wisdom, good health, prosperity and fulfilment.
Other clerics prayed for Olori Tejuoso and the Babalaje of Egbaland, Chief Sola Osunkeye, who was also honoured at the ceremony for attaining 86.
At the grand reception held at the Marquees, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Amosun and Adewolu separately spoke with journalists, praising Olori Tejuosho for her character and impact on people around her.
The former governor, who attended the celebration with his wife, Yeye Olufunsho Amosun spoke glowingly about the celebrant, while Adewolu described her in equally commendable terms, particularly for her humility, generosity and affection for people.
For Olori Tejuoso, however, the occasion was more than a birthday celebration. It was also a reunion with friends whose relationships with her have endured for decades.
Speaking at the event, she expressed gratitude to God, her husband, the Osile of oke-Ona,Oba Adedapo Tejuoso.
She stated that some of her friendships had lasted 60 to 70 years.
“I love people. I love to do things for people,” she said, explaining that her willingness to make others happy had helped sustain her relationships across generations.
She also recalled growing up in a family of successful parents, saying her father, Pa Gabriel Adesanya Odeneye,popularly known as “Ade Million,” was a successful businessman and merchant, while her mother, Beatrice, Aderibigbe Odeneye was also a successful businesswoman.
Olori Tejuoso said she had always preferred to identify with people regardless of their social status, adding that the principle had influenced her relationships with friends and classmates.
“The first appreciation goes to my Heavenly Father,” she said.
A major attraction at the reception was the reunion of old students of Mayflower School, who were classmates of the celebrant.
The classmates joined Olori Tejuosho in marking the milestone, rendering the school anthem and other songs, amid applause from guests.
Guests were also treated to Ewi, the traditional Yoruba poetry and praise singing, which celebrated the life, achievements and contributions of the celebrant.
The event attracted prominent personalities, including former Ogun State Governor and former Senator, Gbenga Daniel, and his wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel; former Nigerian Envoy to United kingdom , Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola; wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun; Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi; Olowu of Owu kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola,traditional rulers, captains of industry and other dignitaries.
The celebration also provided an opportunity for family members, friends and associates to honour Osunkeye, who was celebrated for his 86 years of life and service.
The colourful gathering ended with songs, cutting of the birthday cake by the celebrant,conducted by ogun first lady, Bamidele Abiodun,tributes and goodwill messages, with guests praying for many more years of good health, fulfilment and happiness for both celebrants.
The ceremony ended on a high note, with legendary Juju musician, Commander Ebenezer Obey, on the bandstand, entertaining guests with his evergreen songs as they joined in the celebration and prayed for many more years of good health and fulfilment for the celebrants.
