Impediment to Neighbouring community development allegations: Imala chiefs, Traditional Heads refute claims

... clear air on incidents leading to baseless allegations

The Chiefs and Traditional Heads in Imala, Abeokuta North Local Government, Ogun State have reacted to a report of alleged impediment to development and invasion of community in Olorunda , describing it as untrue , baseless and mischievous.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Baale of Keesan Orile ,High Chief Abdul Waheed Adeyemi Abodunrin, and Chief Asamu Adegbola Agbomabiwon , the Baale of Olorunda and which was made available to journalists on Tuesday in Abeokuta.

The statement described the Orunda of Olorunda, Oba Segun Philips Ogunsola as a manipulator, saying that there was nothing like Olorunda Descendant Union.

Recall that Residents of Olorunda in Abeokuta North Local Government of Ogun State on Monday stormed Nigerian Union of Journalists’ Secretariat Iwe iroyin protesing the alleged persistent interference by Imala leaders in their land and community development projects.

They were armed with placards with bold inscriptions such as “Stop Disrupting Olorunda’s Growth,” “Imala Leaders, Respect Our Boundaries,” “Our Land, Our Right,” and “Government Must Act Now,”

The statement however revealed that Oba Ogunsola was one of the 75 coronet obas that has been revoked by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, saying that he organised the protest in order for him to achieve his personal agenda in becoming a king in a strange land.

The Baales challenged him to come out and defend himself if his father or grandfather’s house is in Olorunda.

The statement reads ” It has been brought to our notice that Mr Phillips Ogunsola who is parading himself as Orunda of Olorunda organized a protest , accusing us of invading the land of Olorunda and the development projects, I want to urge the public to disregard the report, it is nothing but untrue, the Olorunda land belongs to Keesan Orile and we have never stopped any development projects going on in the community, the community belongs to everyone and not for Mr Phillips Ogunsola alone. He has been deceiving the general public and seeking unnecessary attention, in setting the record straight, nothing like Olorunda descendant union. Nobody is an indigene of Olorunda, Olorunda belongs to Keesan Orile, the truth of the matter is that, Mr Philips was one of the 75 coronet obas, unfortunately for him ,the government of the day revoked him. He is a manipulator, the Government of the day does not recognize him as Orunda of Olorunda .He wants to be restored as Oba by force, no body is stopping him from building a customary court, but we need to prioritize the healthy life of our people in the community that was why we have decided to use the property in question as a temporary maternity centre, the building in question was built by Hon. Kayode Amusan , former House of Representatives member, the building was meant for skills acquisition centre, before Mr Phillips Ogunsola hijacked the building without consulting other stakeholders before using it for customary court. We asked him several times for the key to the building but he refused to give us and we need it for a temporary health centre for our people, especially the pregnant women in the community, when he refused to release the key, so we decided to lock up the building after several consultations within the community and that has resulted to false allegations leveled against us, we have never invaded anyone ‘s property, the accusation is mischievous”.
