Lagos traffic tragedy: Ambulance driver dies behind wheel, motorists seek help to identify him

Tragedy struck in Lagos on Thursday night when a driver of a Swift-Med Hospitals ambulance reportedly died behind the wheel while caught in traffic.

The driver, whose identity had yet to be established as of the time of filing this report, was said to have been driving the ambulance when traffic congestion brought movement to a standstill.

However, after the traffic eased, other motorists reportedly noticed that the ambulance remained stationary.

Concerned by the situation, some motorists were said to have approached the vehicle and discovered that the driver had died inside.

The discovery reportedly left motorists shocked, with details of what happened to the driver before his death still unclear.

The cause of death was also unknown, as there was no immediate information indicating whether he suffered a medical emergency or died from another cause.

A post circulating on social media appealed to members of the public to help identify the deceased and contact his family.

The post also claimed that attempts to contact Swift-Med Hospitals were unsuccessful because no telephone number was displayed on the ambulance.

As of the time of filing this report, the deceased was reportedly still inside the ambulance and had yet to be evacuated from the scene.

The incident has generated concern among motorists, particularly because the driver was reportedly alone in the ambulance when he died.

Efforts to establish the exact location of the incident, identify the deceased and obtain an official response from Swift-Med Hospitals or the relevant authorities were ongoing.

The circumstances surrounding the death and the cause would need to be established by the appropriate authorities.
