Dele- Folorunso idowu Esther , a native of Owo, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo state, Nigeria, nabbed for lesbianism act within the precincts and soil of one of the revered, spiritual and ancient sacred shrines in her hometown, relates her near death escapede over her way of life .
Her story "I was a get- inside girl with strict upbringing by highly disciplined parent who instilled discipline in us in the course of my upbringing.
"I attended all Girls school in my town as well. All my life, I mingled greatly with the female gender. And I was in SSS three, when I got introduced into the LGBT circle.
"I and Bunmi Arowo, who was another student in a Girls Secondary School became girlfriend and under the guise of preparing for our final examinations started having sex together. We continued with this our weird lives under various disguises, but unknown to us some people in Bunmi's neighborhood in Ekusi area have been suspecting our activities.
"The rumours about our lesbianism and the efforts towards recruiting young girls into our folds soon frittered into our parents ears.
"My father and mother were seriously worried hearing this. They couldn't believe their ears.Same thing at Bunmi Arowo's parent.
"Time without number, a dreaded neighborhood security operatives were set on our trail and one night they caught us while in the act. We were beaten black and blue and almost got killed as they described our act as a sacrilege and a taboo that could bring calamities to the town. We were taken to the King's Palace,But the quick intervention of our prominent parents nipped the story in the bud.
"Bunmi Arowo's parent sent her out of the town to live in Ibadan .while I was also taken to Lagos to live with my father's junior brother. I began to live in Lagos and through the dedication to relieve me, My father's junior brother took me to counselling and prayer sessions so as to correct my weird lifestyle. I changed because of the new environment and it was in this new environment that I met my husband who would became father of my four children.
"Like , I said, Lagos changed my lifestyle and I began to feel for the opposite sex.
"Along the line, I and Bamidele got married as all the neccasary nuptial knots events were done in Owo,Ondo state and I hardly visited Owo after the marriage. Has God in his mercies would have it, I gave birth to four Children; Dele - Folorunso Radiance Oluwabukola, Dele- Folorunso Clarion Eyitayo, Dele-Folorunso Fortune Temitope, and Dele-Folorunso Claudia Odunayo.
"Every September in Owo,Festivals were usually celebrated for the purposes of worship and Libations on and around Ancient Hills, sacred groove Shrines in the town.
"It was during the period that Igogo festival was celebrated where all sons and daughters of the town would come home. All the years that I had gotten married, I have not taken my children to my town and they usually asked me about the various Hills that they have heard about my town.
"This Particular year, September 2024, a disastrous year that I would never forget in my life, that of my husband and four children.
"We went home enthusiastically for the festivals, went to the Hills side which have become a sort of tourist attractions. Everywhere was in festival mood on that day. Together with my family, we went to the side of the hill but I never knew that it was where that mystical Rerengejen Igogo Shrine was stationed.
"People were climbing, coming up and down and playing on the hill side.We were so in joyous mood enjoying the sounds and scenes of the festival to the extent that it was getting late into the day.Like a bolt from the blues, I saw Bunmi Arowo ,my long time girlfriend during our lesbianism day,Like someone possessed, I started feeling the urge to have her.
"Our eyes met and we hugged each other. We had kissed before we realized that we were in the crowd! We chatted and moved away from glaring eyes to a comfortable side of the hill. Like , the urge I felt, moment I saw Bunmi Arowo, who was looking more beautiful with her thick lips and firm breast, She was also feeling the same!
"And before we knew it, we got back to our old ways. We were so engrossed that we didn't know that some people have seen and been watching the sacrilegious and desecration act that we were committing.
"Alas, the shouting of Eewo!Taboo! Eewo!! Taboo!! made us to come to our senses.
"The custodians of the shrine descended on us. Beating us with anything they could lays their hands on.All the while, my husband and four children had been looking for me.
"And it was my crying and that of Bunmi coupled with the uproar that led my family to the hill side. The fetish high priest of the shrine had ordered that our hands been tied to our back so that we won't run away.
"My husband and children were crying seeing me with bloods oozing out of my body.
"Meanwhile, the Priestess of the Shrine slumped and couldn't be revived. it was said that our act of sacrilege had caused her fatality.
"The shrine custodians pronounced that the two of us must face the wrath as atonement for our sinful act. In no time, our heads were shaved bare.
"The case was reported at the monarch's Palace but the connection of my parent and that of Bunmi Arowo couldn't saved us from glaring death.
"It was an old woman living close to the shrine's enclave that came to our rescue in the dead of the night. She opened the gate to where we were locked up.
The shrine custodians had slated to kill us in the dead of the night, 1am.
My husband and the children had ran home.
I learnt my parent contemplated to inform the police. But did not.
"With my shredded clothes and only pant on me, I ran as fast as my legs could carry. I know that Bunmi too must have find her way. It was straight to our residence. I met my husband, children and parent in distress and were surprised and happy to see that I had escaped a glaring death.
"To cut the story short, On getting to Lagos, my dad junior brother assisted me and we started the process to ensure that I travelled out of the country because the custodians of the shrine insisted that our blood must flow to atone for the desecration of the revered shrine.
"Alas, despite the fact that those who were after my life did not know where I am, they engaged in diabolical means to wipe out my family.
"And on several occasions, placed scaring calabashes of sacrifices in front of my father's house in Ora,Owo.Up till today, I still wonder how this occultic shrine custodians got hold of my husband number, to extent of passing death threats to him and my children. They added that they learnt that I ve ran out of the town.
"While the scaring sacrifices being placed in front of my parents house in Ora street ,persisted, my parent sent a strong warning to my husband and four children to as well find a way and run, as the occultic shrines custodians insisted to avenge the death of the priestess who had slumped and died as result of the desecration of the sacred shrine". She concluded awfully.
