A Tragic incident has thrown the residents of Igbo-Edu Village in the Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State into mourning following the alleged murder of a woman by her husband, who reportedly set her ablaze.
Newslifeonline gathered that the horrific event unfolded in the early hours of today(Sunday) , leaving neighbors and community members in complete shock.
While the exact motive behind the heinous act remains sketchy as of the time of filing this report, local sources revealed that a heated altercation had ensued between the couple before the victim was set on fire.
Efforts by neighbors to save the woman proved abortive as the inferno rapidly engulfed her, resulting in severe burns that led to her death on the spot.
Speaking on the development, a resident of the community, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, described the incident as abominable and called on law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served.
"The entire community is still in disbelief. We heard desperate screams coming from the house, but before anyone could rush in to intervene, the victim was already severely burnt. It is a terrible tragedy," the source said.
A viral video obtained by Newslife shows the moment the victim’s husband was seen unloading the corpse from a police-branded motorboat at a riverbank, as grief-stricken sympathisers mourned the tragic occurrence.
