Alhaji Rasaq Sotayo Confirmed as MOUN National President

A major development has unfolded in the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) as Alhaji Rasaq Sotayo has been confirmed as the National President of the union.

The confirmation was announced by Comrade Akintande Abiodun, National Provost of MOUN, in a statement released in Abuja on Monday.

According to Akintande, the confirmation was the outcome of a meeting held at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Secretariat in Abuja, where a memorandum of understanding was signed by all parties involved.

The meeting, which included Comrade Julius Bobi, who was also involved in the leadership tussle,  resulted in an agreement that solidified Sotayo's position as the authentic President of MOUN.

A four-man panel committee, chaired by Comrade Sunday Oluwole, was set up by the NLC, with representatives from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and Trade Union, to resolve the leadership tussle that had been ongoing for the past month.

The committee's efforts culminated in the signing of the memorandum of understanding, which also saw Bobi accepting the role of Deputy President of the Union.

Akintande said, as part of the agreement, all court cases against Sotayo's leadership have been withdrawn, paving the way for a smooth transition and stability within the union.

He said "A four-man panel committee, chaired by Comrade Sunday Oluwole, was constituted by the NLC, with representatives from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and Trade Union, to resolve the dispute.

"After deliberations, the committee's efforts yielded a breakthrough, with Sotayo's leadership being affirmed. As part of the agreement, Bobi has accepted the role of Deputy President of the Union."
