Former President Muhammad Buhari is dead




 He was a good man. Goodnight General Muhammad Buhari (Head of State 1984/1985 and President 2015 to 2023. May your soul rest in peace. Allah saved you in 2017.


Muhammadu Buhari was a Nigerian retired politician who served as the president of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023 and as the military head of state from 1983 to 1985. Born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria, Buhari was the 23rd child of Mallam Hardo Adamu, a Fula chieftain.


Buhari's early life was marked by his attendance at Qur'anic school and his primary education in Daura and Mai'Adua. He graduated in 1953 and later attended Katsina Middle School, where he had his secondary education from 1956 to 1961. Buhari was admitted into the Nigerian Military Training College (NMTC) in 1962 and underwent officer cadet training at Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot, England.


Buhari's military career spanned several years, during which he served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Third Armoured Division of Jos, and played a key role in the military coup of December 1983 that overthrew the Second Nigerian Republic. He was overthrown in a coup led by Major General Ibrahim Babangida in August 1985 and detained in Benin City until 1988.


After his release, Buhari retired to his residence in Daura and later served as the Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), a body created by the government of General Sani Abacha. Buhari ran for president of Nigeria on several occasions, including in 2003, 2007, and 2011, before finally winning the election in 2015 as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress party.


Sadly, Muhammadu Buhari passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 .
