..affirms Women as her USP to win August 16 Remo Federal Constituency seat
The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the coming Remo/Ikenne/ Sagamu Federal Constituency bye- Election, Hon. Adesola Elegbeji has vowed to finish the yet- to- be completed projects of the Late Lawmaker, Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga
Elegbeji,who pointed out her own plans if elected, described the projects of late Hon. Onanuga as impactful, good and working.
She is contesting the seat alongside other candidates from opposition parties to replace the late former member, Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, who died in January after a brief illness.
She boasted that with her over 11 years of experience in grassroots politics, she can deliver more than others.
She disclosed this on Thursday during the Meet the Press organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists Ogun State Council.
" what I am going to do is to finish all the projects that she had going before she was sadly called away. And then also to continue in her process, because they were good processes and we all know that if something is working, why change it?
"Part of the problems that we have in this country, is that everybody who comes in wants to start everything afresh. But we believe in continuity and we don't just do things because we want to make a name for ourselves. We believe in party supremacy, so as the party has decided that the candidate represents the party's will, which is myself, will continue to fulfill all the projects"
The former Commissioner in the Ogun Judicial Service Commission said she was aware that distribution of transformers was part of the projects, promised to up it by tappings into alternative energy solutions and have solar farms in rural areas.
"We would expand on the project by transforming into rural electrification project. I'm very much aware that the status quo is that we distribute transformers, but what we are going to do is tap into alternative energy solutions and have solar farms in rural areas,because it's solar power. Basically, they will have 24-hour power supply.
"What that means is that where there is electricity, there is life. So, when we have electricity, we'll have good water, sanitation, health care products, and most importantly, economic development to encourage people to stay in rural areas.
"And also, in the area of security, we'll develop solutions to address security issues in our our constituencies .When there is electricity, you have solar lights, people can feel safe and secure in their homes. Most importantly, they are off the national grid, so it doesn't matter if the national transmission line fails or whatever, because it's solar power. they'll have electricity 24 hours a day.
Speaking on Legislative acts,she promised to sponsor bills that would make life better for the Physical challenged.
"The bill will ensure that they are not discriminated against because they are less able. There are so many people that think because you have a disability, you are a lesser person in society. So, we need to make sure that their rights are protected, and whatever it is they do as citizens of Nigeria.
"As we leverage on the project of our governor, Governor Dapo Abiodun -Light of Ogun State, there will be continuity and networking. What we will be doing in the national assembly is to make sure that the projects I'm doing support the projects that our good governor is doing. when it comes to women empowerment. There will be provision of grants, loans to support the women.
Elegbeji who also stated that her Unique Selling Point is the Women, declared that women of the constituency would vote massively for the All Progressives Congress and ensure victory for her.
