Offa Gbagura in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State came alive on Saturday as the Offa Traditional Council of Chiefs, under the leadership of Balogun Offa Gbagura, High Chief Oladoyinbo Abiodun Owolabi, installed Chief Kolawole Oderinde as the 3rd Oganla of Offa Gbagura.
The ceremony, held at the residence of Balogun Offa, was attended by the Oderinde descendants, Ede indigenes, Aramoko Ekiti, Oyo, Ibadan, Lagos, and people from Benin Republic and Canada.
Performing the traditional rites, Apena Jamiu Ajamigboso outlined the importance of the title and the roles of the holder in Offa Gbagura kingdom and the traditional institution as a whole.
Speaking after the rites, Balogun Owolabi enjoined the newly installed Oganla of Offa to intensify his noble contributions to the town. He noted that the testimonies given by the family and other independent findings were testaments that he was worthy of the title.
"Though there is no perfect human being, by virtue of your profile and the good comments given by your people, you are worthy to belong to the Offa Gbagura traditional institution," he said. "I urge you to continue to be a bridge builder for the family, and we look forward to seeing you replicate this in Offa Gbagura as the title holder."
Amidst drumming, dancing, and prayers in a joyous atmosphere, all the insignia of the title were given to the new Oganla of Offa Gbagura.
Among the dignitaries who offered prayers and partook in the presentations were the Balogun Iraa and first Alawo Erin of Egbaland, High Chief Nurudeen Olaleye.
Guests were entertained at the family compound at Oja Agbo, as well-wishers, friends, and associates enjoyed the joyous occasion amidst danceable music delivered by DJ Watt.
