Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army under Operation ACCORD III, with support from Other Hybrid Forces, have killed a notorious bandit leader, Babangida Kachala, in Ofere-Bunu Forest, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Army spokesperson, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, said the troops ran into an ambush on September 11, 2025, but overpowered the criminals in a fierce gun battle.
Recovered items include 31 phones, a loaded magazine, ₦16,000 cash, Tramadol tablets, charms, and a blood pressure machine. Blood trails confirmed that several bandits escaped with injuries, including Kachala, who was later confirmed dead.
Kachala was the second-in-command to Kachala Shuaibu, leader of a gang terrorising Masalaci Boka and Ofere-Bunu Forest axis.
