CPS: Ogun NUP commends Gov. Abiodun on implementation

 

... Appeals for approval of review consequential adjustment

 The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun State Council, has applauded Gov. Dapo Abiodun for his exemplary leadership and steps taken to enhance the welfare of pensioners in the state.

 The Union gave the commendation in a statement signed by State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Waheed Oloyede, and Secretary, Comr. Bola Lawal, made available to journalists on Monday.

 The Union highlighted payment of accrued gratuities up to 2019, full implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme from 2nd July 2025, and approval of palliative provision for retirees who exited service from 2nd July 2025, ensuring they are not disadvantaged by the transition to the new scheme.

 NUP stated that the state’s generated revenue has grown, enabling the State Government to devote more resources to public service and welfare.

 Hinging on the awards and recognition received by the state under the able leadership of Gov. Abiodun, they expressed hope and passionately appealed to the state governor to approve the long-awaited consequential review of the pensions of long-standing pensioners in line with the 2019 Federal Government circular on the Consequential Adjustment of Pensions.

 “Your benevolent approval will further enhance the purchasing abilities of affected pensioners, whose present earnings cannot feed them, let alone cover the required drugs for various health challenges ravaging the elderly. The approval will strengthen the security and dignity of such pensioners in Ogun State.”

 The State Pensioners also appealed for inclusion of retirees of tertiary institutions who had earlier pulled out of service voluntarily but met the 35 years in service/mandatory age-60 years, that fall within the Defined Benefits Scheme (DBS), to be captured and paid accordingly.

 NUP also requested continuous, transparent communication on the process of full implementation of the CPS for seamless transition of would-be retirees into the system.
