Police in Osun State have uncovered a disturbing case involving alleged ritual activities, betrayal, and an attempted cover-up, resulting in the arrest of several suspects, including a married man accused of coordinating the killing of his close friend, a senior Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, and her young daughter.
The victims have been identified as Mrs. Lasisi Funmilayo and her daughter, Sewa.
The Fatal Journey
According to a police source familiar with the case, the incident began on Sunday, November 2. Mrs. Lasisi, in the company of a family acquaintance identified as Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun, travelled from Ogun State to Osun State. The exact nature of their relationship and the purpose of the trip are still being reviewed, though it is believed that Victor, whose family is based in Osun, invited her.
Their destination was the residence of a herbalist in Osun State. Upon arrival, Victor, the herbalist, and Mrs. Lasisi walked to a secluded spot behind the property. Investigators allege that she was killed there. Her daughter, Sewa, was reportedly outside playing with the herbalist’s children, unaware of what was happening.
Double Tragedy and a Fake Kidnapping
After the killing of Mrs. Lasisi, the suspects allegedly removed body parts for ritual purposes and disposed of her remains in a shallow water body. They then targeted the child. According to investigators, Sewa was lured into a nearby bush, where she was also killed, and parts of her body removed. Her remains were left in the bush.
Fearing he would be implicated, Victor allegedly staged his own disappearance. He parked his car by the Ikire expressway in Osun State, leaving the windows down and the key in the ignition. When his wife was unable to reach him for days, she began a search. While heading to a church Victor mentioned visiting, she discovered the abandoned vehicle and notified the police, believing her husband had been kidnapped.
How Police Broke the Case
Responding officers quickly became suspicious.
“Our initial investigation and questioning of people in the area where the vehicle was found pointed to foul play,” a senior officer involved in the case said.
A crucial lead emerged when police retrieved Victor’s call logs and discovered regular communication with a particular phone number before his staged disappearance. The number belonged to a well-known herbalist in Osun State, identified on TikTok as @abere.ifa13.
An undercover officer was sent to the herbalist’s home, but the suspect reportedly fled after getting tipped off. A manhunt was launched, and officers traced his phone to Ijebu-Ijesha. In a surprising twist, plainclothes operatives searching for him experienced a vehicle breakdown. While seeking assistance, a man resembling the herbalist walked past. After brief questioning, he became evasive and fled into the bush. Officers pursued him and apprehended him after about an hour.
Confessions and Leading Police to the Scene
During interrogation, the first herbalist confessed to taking part in the killing of the woman but denied involvement in the child's death. He identified a second herbalist located in Ekiti State, who was also arrested shortly afterward.
Both suspects later led investigators to the bush where they left Sewa’s remains.
The first suspect, @abere.ifa13, is a notable figure on TikTok, and his account has since been inundated with comments. The alleged accomplice also appears in videos posted on the same account.
Investigators have confirmed that Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun has been detained. The suspects reportedly confessed that Victor insisted the woman be used for rituals, claiming he needed it to “make it in life.”
Police say the investigation is ongoing as they continue efforts to recover all remains and build a solid case for prosecution.
