The Ogun State Police Command has demonstrated its commitment to public safety by rescuing a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Baki Hassan Atoyebi, unhurt in Onipanu area of the state. On October 27, 2025, around 8:14 p.m., five armed men invaded Atoyebi's compound, switched off the generator, and ambushed the occupants, abducting Atoyebi and stealing valuables, including a POS machine, ₦900,000 cash, three mobile phones, a power bank, and vehicle keys.
The kidnappers demanded a ₦30 million ransom, but the police acted swiftly. Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, deployed a combined tactical team, which tracked the kidnappers to their hideout along a creek. Two suspects were neutralized, and others fled with gunshot injuries. Atoyebi was rescued unhurt, and his mobile phones and vehicle keys were recovered.
CP Ogunlowo commended the security teams' gallantry and synergy, assuring residents of the command's continued commitment to safety. He reiterated that Ogun State remains unsafe for criminal elements .
