Ogun Visionaries, a group supporting Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola's governorship bid, on Thursday ,held the Ogun East edition of its Town Hall Meeting in Ijebu Ode. The event aimed to deepen support for Adeola's candidacy in the 2027 governorship election. The meeting brought together various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, market women, religious communities, community leaders and youths from Ijebu Ode and its environs. They discussed Adeola's vision for Ogun State and his plans to implement it if elected governor.
Speaking on the theme "Yayi's Candidacy for Equality and Innovation", the Guest Speaker, Hon. Onadeko Onamusi, described Yayi as a core grassroots politician who knows the value of grassroots politics as one that holds the pillar of political governance.
The former House of Representatives member, while outlining Yayi's sterling qualities, said, "I've no doubt in Yayi's capacity, going by his antecedents. His ambition for the governorship seat in 2027 is designed to bring growth, prosperity, and progress to Ogun State."
"The progress Yayi is coming with is what we call equity; every LG will have a sense of belonging, fulfillment. All LGs will have the grace to use their allocations for even development. He is a man with a vision," he added.
Hon. Onamusi, who appealed to the two senatorial districts to allow equity to prevail in 2027, noted that he has seen an aspirant who will take Ogun State to the promised land.
Former Special Assistant on Housing, Chief Segun Ojolowo Ojuko, delving into "The Journey ahead, who to lead", described his paper as a statement of readiness, in which Ogun is ready to toe the paths of equity, equality, and foresight. "2027 is not the time for apprenticeship governance in Ogun. It must be about readiness, boldness, and capable leadership," he said.
"Yayi represents strength, competence, capability, and even development," he added.
In his remarks, Senator Lekan Mustapha said Sen Adeola has paid his dues and worthy of being backed for the Governorship's aspiration.
"He is a unifying factor. People that I cannot imagine are supporting Yayi. if truly, we want Unity, it is for Ogun East to Support Ogun West to realise the governorship desire through Sen.Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi."
The Director-General of Ogun Visionaries, Hon. Leye Odunjo, said the group is committed to mobilizing support for Adeola's candidacy. He urged participants to spread the word about Adeola's vision and plans for Ogun State.
A prominent socialite, who was the mother of the day, Chief Mrs. Kolade Carew, while expressing her support for Adeola's aspiration, praised Adeola's leadership skills and commitment to public service. She urged all women to rally support for Adeola's governorship bid.
Discussants at the Panel session, including Deputy Registrar, OOU, Dr. Donald Akinmade, Rt Hon. Tola Banjo, Dr. Fatimot Shoge, and Princess Florence Egbeyemi, all submitted that in 50 years of Ogun State's existence, Ogun West has not occupied the governorship seat, and that disunity had denied the district the post.
They added that Ogun West has seen the aspirant with the capacity who has been performing wonders across the three senatorial districts of the state, adding that there is no need for searching and that Ogun East is solidly behind Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola's ambition. They also submitted that Yayi has potentials that make him ahead of others aspiring for the governorship seat in 2027.
In his remarks, former Ogun NLC chairman, Comrade Niyi Osoba, who themed his delivery as "Equity, Equality, and Innovation", noted that he disagreed with anybody or group clamoring for Ijebu Lokan. He described Ogun West as a district clamoring for what is due to them, adding that Ogun East would support Ogun West with Yayi's aspiration as a matter of equality.
"We in Ogun East, it is not our turn, but to give it to Ogun West as a show of equity. On innovation, Comrade Osoba spoke about Yayi's mien, disposition, character, and attitude. "This is a man who, by personality and charisma, always shows love for service and greater development. He is fit to be the next Governor of Ogun State," he said.
A man spending 25 years as a legislator, being elected to different positions seven times now. It is by what he stands for.
The Town Hall Meeting provided an opportunity for participants to ask questions and express their support for Ogun West and Yayi's aspiration.
