Saleh Mohammadi was a 19-year-old Iranian wrestler and a rising national talent. He was executed by hanging on March 19, 2026, in Qom after his arrest during anti-regime protests on January 8, 2026.
He represented Iran internationally, securing a medal at the 2024 Saytiev Cup (Saitiev Cup) freestyle wrestling competition in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.
Human rights groups, including Iran Human Rights and IranWire, reported that his conviction for allegedly taking the life of a security officer came from confessions allegedly obtained under torture, with his family highlighting an alibi (being at his uncle's house) and inconsistencies in the case.
