Upset in Delta: Longest-Serving Rep Mutu Bows Out After 7 Terms




 After 27 years in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nicholas Mutu has lost the direct primaries of the APC for Bomodi/Patani Federal Constituency in Delta State.


He is the longest serving Member of the House of Representatives having spent 7 terms (1999 to 2027) in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly. 



Rep. Nicholas Mutu is a seasoned Nigerian politician serving as the representative for Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives since 1999, making him Nigeria's longest-serving federal legislator. He's known for his impactful representation, facilitating key infrastructure projects, especially road construction, and empowerment programs for youths and women .


Mutu has enjoyed strong support from his constituents, with various groups endorsing his re-election bid in 2027, citing his commitment to development and effective representation. These groups include the Bomadi Elders and Stakeholders Forum, the Patani community, and women's organizations like NicPress Ladies .


However, Mutu faced a significant setback on Saturday in the APC primary elections, losing to former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Basil Okoloboawei Ganagana, who polled 14,632 votes against Mutu's 1,093
